Monterey and Pebble Beach

We got off to a pretty early start, heading to Monterey. Our first stop was actually at Moss Landing, a small fishing village and the home of Phil’s Fish Market. This place was once home to a  Bobby Flay’s Throwdown episode…

We had the bread bowl of clam chowder and it was yummy and very filling.

We then started our trek south on Hwy 1…

We arrived in Monterey needing fuel and worried at what the prices would be. We had seen it for $4.76 a bit earlier and passed it up. Downtown Monterey we got it for $4.33. Go figure!

Jello Plans

Wednesday.. Today was a very lazy day. We are both  tired. I am also recovering from my fall the other day. Sore but doing better.

When we left our rv in storage,  our freezer and frig were full. We kept our fingers crossed that the propane would keep it going. When we got back it was off.. however when I checked the freezer only a few things were thawed out. The rest, including the ice were still frozen. I took out the steaks and pork roast and they were still cold so I cooked them up.I did have to throw out a few small things.  When we went to put our landing gear down, we realized the battery was dead.  I didn’t realize that the frig runs on battery, thought it was just propane. It is time that we add another battery, since we only have one. We may just do that while we are here.

Since we received the call cancelling Lake Tahoe, we have decided to stay away from the mountains. They still have lots of snow and some roads are closed. So that means we will not be going to Yosemite. I think we are about a month to early to do those areas. We will stay here in Morgan Hill for two weeks. We plan on making a trip to Monterey and most likely San Francisco, although we have been there before…. When we leave here we will probably spend a night in the Sonoma area and then head up to Crescent City to see the Redwoods. I have been busy today with reservations for June into July. We still don’t have any reservations for July 4th weekend!! Could be a problem. Made some calls but they are full. We will be up on the Wa/Or line…Other than the 4th weekend, we are all set right through the 12th of July, which will take us into Idaho and give us one week to get to Island Park, where we will spend a month.

We just got back from Monterey and will post about it tomorrow..

A Little Detour

We left Palm Desert last  Tuesday morning. We had a long travel day but it was perfect weather and beautiful scenery.

We arrived in Morgan Hill and checked into a campground for the night.  We have stored our home for the week and when we return we will see a bit of the area.

Our little detour took us on a noontime  flight to Houston. Our daughter, along with the three boys picked us up. and our son in law had dinner waiting when we arrived. It is great to be back with family. Lots of hugs..

On Thursday the guys had a golf day. On Friday we had a girls day.. Haircuts, shopping and lunch..

We are having beautiful sunny weather with temps in the high 80’s. Saturday we played in the pool!

Sunday, another beautiful day. My daughter Kim, youngest grandson Brady and I took off for the Montgomery County Fair.. Kim has a friend whose niece was showing her heifer. We met up with  friends and had a nice visit and fun watching the show. Brady really enjoyed the kids petting zoo.

Monday I visited with friends and also had a pedicure.  I took a fall while letting out the dog and I am very lucky I didn’t break anything. I hit my head pretty hard and it is sore.  I am sure I will pay for it later.

We were up early and at the airport for our 9am flight back to California.  I should have had my camera in hand while flying over the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It was beautiful, with lots and lots of snow.

We were back in the campground around noon and pulled out of storage and into a site. We are scheduled to stay here three nights but that may change. We received a call, cancelling a reservation we have next week near Lake Tahoe. They said they have had damage, have no water and still under plenty of snow.  We have to revamp our travel plans and will work on that today.

Today we will head out..We have a change in plans. Originally we were headed over to Point Maguu, a military campground on the ocean. However, we are both needing a grandchild fix real bad. Sooo, we are driving about 400 miles to our next destination and storing our home for the week. If all goes well, we will fly to Houston out of San Jose.  When we return, we have reservations at TT Morgan Hill, Ca..   So stay tuned,  to find out if all goes as planned..

Out and About

Thursday we decided to go casino hopping. The first one was a good one. If you sign up for their players card, they give you $50 of slot play once you have played $20 of your own. Now, that’s a good deal. We played for quite some time, but of course didn’t come out ahead. Then next casino, didn’t have much to offer, but we did buy the buffet lunch and played a bit.

The temperatures have gone upwards and we hit triple digits.  Don’t like it.. I went up to the pool to cool off late afternoon.

Friday… we headed out early. First stop was to buy The Solution. The dry cleaner that Kevin has become addicted to, thanks to Mark Hall…I actually love using it myself now. It’s great for the counters and windows..

Next stop was the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. We drove to the base station which is at an elevation of 2,643 and purchased our tickets and boarded the worlds largest rotating tram. The ride only takes 10 minutes to take you to the top, at an elevation of 8,516 ft and the San Jacinto Mountains. Very beautiful..

It was a great adventure and glad we did it… Temps on top of the mountain where a nice 62!!

We stopped to pick up some sandwiches and headed home just in time to watch the opening day of  Red Sox baseball. They lost….but that is okay, we are expecting big things from them this year.

It was still very warm and I couldn’t seem to cool down so off I went for a nice evening dip in the pool. I met several people and we chatted for quite some time, as we floated. Nice night..
