Relaxing in the Desert and Lunch

We have had some really relaxing days here doing nothing. Well almost, nothing.. Karen and I prefer to say we are holding down the chairs on the patio. Once you sit, something comes over us and well, we just plain relax….

Tuesday, Karen knocked on the door and asked if we would like to take a ride to see Glen and Sylvia Avery. They were parked at the Escapees Park, here in Yuma.  So off we went, found the park but not the Avery’s.. They were out…

On Wednesday, Phyllis organized a lunch at Burgers and Beer. We all met there at 1pm.

Thursday I drove with Mac and Netters to the flea market. We took our time strolling around…  Kevin spent the day cleaning Keith and Donna’s rig. They had asked him to clean off all that desert dust.. Anyone that knows Kevin, knows that he likes to be out early morning, shining something up!  The Green’s  had to fly back home to be with Keith’s mother for her last hours. Our hearts go out to them on their loss. We look forward to having you back with us over the weekend.

Nothing in the works today, I don’t think.. I am working on maps and parks and trying to figure out where and when we will head to, when we leave Arizona in March…

Mexico and Friends

Last Friday was our planned trip to Mexico. We had plans to meet up with Ginger & Jesse, who were also in Yuma. Mac & Netters stopped along the way to have them follow us across the California line and then into Algodones, Mexico.   We parked and walked easily into the busy streets, lined with vendors, dentists, optical and drug stores. I had lined up an appointment to have my free eye exam. I have never worn prescription glasses and I know it’s time. Karen and Lynette accompanied me. I had asked Lynette to come along, because I know nothing about script glasses and she does from working in an opthomologist office. Once the exam was over and I was quoted a price, she asked lots of questions and the decision was made to leave without a purchase. She didn’t think the quality of lenses that they use was good enough.  We headed to meet up with everyone else and we all headed for drinks and lunch in the outside cafe area.  After eating and drinking, we shopped a bit. Lynette and I picked out some pretty glass inserts for our RV door windows.

Kevin and I looked around for a dentist office that we were referred to and never did find, purchased some EVOO and some booze and then headed to the exit. We waited 40 minutes in line to go through immigration.  Heading back home we stopped at a casino. Everyone came out a winner but me!

We spent a fairly quiet weekend, the highlight being football Sunday, even though our Patriots got kicked out last week.  We both like Green Bay and were cheering them on.

Monday, we were having a happy hour here at our place. We had invited Jesse and Ginger, and had just found out that Jo and Fred Wishnie were in the area, so asked them to join  us.  It was neat to see these folks again. We got caught up on where everyone has been and where everyone is heading.  All couples  brought yummy food to share and Mac cooked up fajita’s. Yummm…  When the sun went down and it cooled off, we retreated to our clubhouse, the garage!

 

Phyllis has another get together planned for today, so we are in for more fun!!!!

Having Fun and a Day Trip to Q

We have been having a wonderful time here in the desert. Who would of thought that I would say that. Not me!

Our weather has been perfect most days with temps ranging from 70’s –80’s. We have kept busy sunning, playing cards, gambling, shopping and of course eating…..

Last night we had dinner at Mac and Netters. Mac smoked up some ribs and boy oh boy, were they delicious.  We got to meet Angela from our chat room and her husband Don, from BC.  Phyllis and Bob who have been sick for a few weeks also joined us. It was a fun time.

 

Today we headed to Quartzite for a day trip, to meet up with a bunch of Escapees for a Happy Hour.  This was a first for us to Q, and I must say I was impressed.  Soooooo many vendors around town. The big tent is set up but is not open until Saturday. I guess that is a good thing since we really don’t need anything else.  The best part was seeing friends again.

Made It To Arizona

Wow, it’s been awhile since I wrote. After spending a wonderful Christmas in Texas….

 

It was time to head on down the road…

 

After a very long drive through Texas..we entered into..

We spent the night in Las Cruces but were on the road early morning, heading to our destination state of..

 

After getting all checked in at an RV park in Tucson, we ventured out in search of ….

and..

Both of these, were places I have waited quite awhile to visit.

We just spent one night in Tucson. The plans had been to spend a few, and see the area, but weather reports of high winds and SNOW, changed our plans. We were out of there….and headed to YUMA!!

Now, my expectations of Arizona were not very high.. I am basically a water kind of girl. I love the ocean and lakes. Perhaps because I am an aquarius..  Well I must admit, I was very surprised when we arrived. The area is nothing like I expected. Both Kevin & I really like it! We were greated by Mac & Netters, who escorted us to our site. We had reserved a site for January and February on a private lot. We got backed in and hooked up. Very nice.  Friends Donnie & Karen have rented the  lot next to us. They arrived two days later. Mac & Netters are 2.5 miles away in another private lot. Phyllis & Bob, chat room friends are close to them.

And our very own activity room (use of the clean garage, with large tables) heated and air conditioned!

We feel very fortunate to have this space. We start gathering outside on the patio and when the sun goes down, we head into the garage for good eats and cards..
